Uganda, a peaceful country which is often referred to as the “Pearl of Africa” primarily because of its national parks, mountains, Lake Victoria and River Nile among others, has in the recent years seen exponential growth in the tourism sector. According to Uganda Tourism Board, by end of 2023, tourists arrival numbers had soured to 1.3 Million. The figure of 2024 is expected to be higher.
The country offers a variety of safari activities including gorilla and chimpanzee tracking, game viewing and bird watching. To those who may not be aware, Uganda is one of the three countries with about 50% of the world’s re-known population of endangered mountain gorillas.
Also Uganda has a variety of game including the rare tree-climbing lions, white rhinoceros, elephants and its home to 11% of the world’s bird species.
The Government of Uganda has done a great job on infrastructure. Those who have been to Uganda recently will notice that Entebbe International Airport is being worked on, now looks good and is anticipated to be much better soon when all work being done on it has been completed
Entebbe Kampala Toll Expressway is fully operational and almost all national roads connecting Uganda to neighbors are paved and good.
Uganda Airlines started re-operating 5 years ago, the steady growth of the Airlines and its continued acquisition of new routes in East, West, Southern Africa, Asia, Middle East and very soon a direct flight to Gatwick London, all combined will be a big boost to the country’s tourism sector.
Kabalega International Airport in Western Uganda which will be Uganda’s second International Airport, is nearing completion. This new Airport is poised to play a pivotal role in boosting tourism by offering improved connectivity and convenience for both domestic and international travelers. Also there are several domestic airports and air strips in various parts of Uganda and Aircraft charter services are available in Uganda, including jet charters, group and cargo charters.

5. Investing in a cable car in Kampala’s ever congested and car jammed central business district would work as a tourist attraction and make the city more appealing for visitors.
